Weight Loss Monday

So I totally feel like a slacker for just now realizing that I forgot to give an update on Monday but this may be the one week I have an excuse.   I developed a really sharp pain in my back last week that I thought was a pulled muscle so I took a night off.  I resumed my training on Wednesday but had to stop after about 20 minutes because I was so out of breath.  The breathlessness thing had been happening for about a week and a half but I just thought it was from stepping up my training regimine.  I puffed on an inhaler I had from my last bout with bronchitis and didn't feel a whole lot better.  Fast forward to the next morning and I got out of breath watching tv.  Later talking to a friend and my voice went out.  This triggered a phone call to the doctor who made an appointment for the next morning but told me if I started having arm cramping to go to the ER.  No big deal.

I go to the doctor on Friday at 8:30 and they start asking me questions, hook me up to an EKG and tell me that after the EKG they are going to do a breathing treatment and call over to the ER to let Dr Magoun know that I'm headed that way.  I again underwent another EKG, heart monitors, CAT Scans and a dye-contrast CT Scan of my heart.  Everything came back ok on the test.  No signs of a heart attack, heart condition, or blood clot in my lung.  I have to say that there were some serious moments where I thought I just might be a ticking time bomb.  Luckily God still has bigger things planned for me.

I saw the pulmonologist on Monday per his request on Friday and they put me on another steroid and told me to continue using the albuterol inhaler.  I'll go back on Monday and they'll do a Pulmonary Function Test to see how my lungs are functioning and determine from there if I've developed "Adult Onset Asthma".  It really is kind of scary to think that I've been functioning for the last 2 weeks in an asthmatic state.  I still am struggling to take deep breaths and get out of breath doing the smallest things but hopefully the Lung Specialist will get me back on track.

I'm DETERMINED I'm completing the half-marathon even if it is walking!  I've found a new walking plan and after Monday's test I will be attacking it full force.  NO MORE EXCUSES!  Lungs get with the program!
