Adoption Update

Lots of people have asked if I've chosen an Agency or have begun the adoption process. When I do decide to pursue adoption thru an Agency, I have chosen to go thru Bethany. I've heard a lot of good things about them and have done a lot of research. I probably will pursue that route in the fall. Right now I'm willing to wait and see what happens while doing garage sales and whatever else I can do to raise money to help fund the adoption. Am I open to private adoptions? Absolutly. What happens, happens and if someone were to come to me today because of a situation they know of then my answer would be yes. God calls us to take care of the orphans and I'm ready to do that.

We used Bethany! I highly recommend them for your first adoption, mostly bc of the education/information they provide and how MUCH you learn, not only about adoption, but about yourself throughout the process. Plus, they are known to put a lot of focus on birthmothers. Just remember, their job is to find a home for the baby, not to find a baby for your home.

Also, and I doubt this would really be a problem for you, but I just want to warn you against saying "Yes" to the first baby you can. Not that you should said No, what I mean is... it's so easy to get caught up in the fact that there is a possibility of becoming a mother, that you can forget to slow down and pray and figure out IS THAT REALLY *MY* BABY? We were told this by so many ppl, not every available baby is YOUR baby. You could have the opportunity to bring home a baby, but you should only do that if you feel 100% at peace with it being YOUR baby, and not do it just bc you WANT it to be your baby so badly, even if that means you have to wait a little longer.

We had a chance to adopt the most beautiful baby boy and we wanted that baby so badly, but on some level, we knew he wasn't OUR baby. It is SO hard to say no when you are that close, but you may just have to. (Just FYI, we didn't say no... another arrangement was made behind our backs but HE WASN'T OUR BABY).

KWIM? Pretty sure all that was confusing...

Praying for you, Jordan. In His time...

Thanks Amber! All your information and comments are very helpful. I completely agree that there is a baby that is made specifically for each person. Your story of the twins is a wonderful testament to that.

I've actually had 2 situations brought up recently that didn't work out and I think it was because their not the babies God has picked out for me. I thinks its just a constant, yet sometimes hurtful reminder that he is always in control and it will happen in his time and not mine.
