We went to see the craniofacial surgeon today, and he said he didn't think it would do any good to put her helmet on before surgery because four days woould not make that big of a difference. He said that if for some wonderful reason (many prayers to God) Emerie comes out of surgery without a halo she will need to go back in her helmet to prevent anymore of her skull from flattening. He said that if she does come out with a halo or body cast the he will have to work with the surgeon doing the surgery Monday on ways to keep repositioning Emerie so her skull will not become even more flattened. This will be very tricky and depends on what they find during surgery. They also will have to prevent bedsores on her body and head. Dr. Kelly was very caring and concerned, and at this point we need compassionate doctors. He said he would definitely come in when the surgery was over to decide what would be best for Emerie. Finally all the doctors are communicating and working together for Emeries sake, and beleive me if you have ever worked with a number of doctors at one time this is God's work. Everytime the doctors see Emerie they comment on how cute and happy she is all the time no matter what she goes through. Without Emerie even knowing it she is touching many peoples hearts and lives. What a testimony she will have someday and she can give all the glory to God. Dr. Kelly said in the coming days and months we need to pray for skull growth and by God's wonderful grace and many prayers for Emerie this will happen.
