Endometriosis Awareness Month

Did you know that March is Endometriosis Awareness month? It's a disease that's near and dear to my heart. It affected my body for 10 long years. It is one of the factors that lead to my hysterectomy. I may only reach one reader through this post but at least 1 more person is aware of this disease and can be a support to someone they know may have it.

Did you know...
  • At least 5.5 million women in North America alone have endometriosis.

  • About 30 percent to 40 percent of women with endometriosis are infertile, making it one of the top three causes for female infertility.

  • This pain can be so intense that it affects a woman’s quality of life, from her relationships, to her day-to-day activities.

  • Currently, we have no cure for endometriosis. Even having a hysterectomy or removing the ovaries does not guarantee that the endometriosis areas and/or the symptoms of endometriosis will not come back. *** This fact scares me slightly

  • Many women with endometriosis feel alone in their struggle. Building a dedicated support system of loved ones to share in the struggle can make a world of difference for those who suffer from the pain or infertility of the condition.
